WHITE-TAILED DEER LEATHER
White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) hides are a by-product of population control. The touch and feel are soft as butter and the grainy texture brings you closer to nature’s true spirit.
Compared to reindeer leather, white-tailed deer leather is thicker, which allows us to create a variety of articles. Our very first article, the Model One Tote Bag is developed from white-tailed deer leather for its luxurious feel but also to match functionality, design, and durability.
Each article is unique
This is a result of the life the animals have had in the wilderness. The history will keep living in the product and it is not our intention to try to hide it. Every article is unique - two same kinds of articles can not be found. Though the marks of the previous life can be seen, this doesn't mean we'd have to make compromises on quality.
Lifelong companion
We want to take it to the extreme and make our products lifelong companions. The leather used in products and the products itself are designed to get through everyday challenges. The leather quality is a result of many decades of development at Ahlskog Tannery. Design is made in collaboration with artesans, who have the vision how to make best solutions in terms of endurance. Normal leather stands time. Our leather is lifelong.
100% controlled supply chain
In our products there isn't a single thing we lack information of. The leather is tanned by our partner in Finland at Ahlskog Tannery. Therefore, we have awareness and control about everything related to the leather of our products. Articles are designed and made in Finland. Things we have quite exclusive right to be proud of.
ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
All of our products are made either of reindeer leather or white-tailed deer leather. Both of these can be considered the most ethical raw material for leather making. Both animals live in Finland in their natural habitant. The deer hides given to the industry is a waste that is result of population control. We have done our best to minimize the carbon footprint of our production chain. From the northern periphery to a neat product it takes only 700km. No abroad production, or leather acquirement. Our products haven’t seen the world much until they are in use - with you.
